Looking for a piece of beef to cook low and slow – this is it.  We stock both Bindaree & Cape Grim beef brisket which is a great cut for cooking in a smoker. Rub with your favourite seasoning or buy one of our Deep South East Dry Rubs. Slow cook for 3 – 4 hours, take out and smother with your favourite sauce, wrap in foil and cook for another hour. Cook with the fat side up so as the meat cooks and fat melts it bastes the meat to keep it moist.

    Perfect cut for slow-cooking! If you have a slow-cooker (or especially a pressure cooker), then you have to try this brisket.

    I bought 1kg, cut off about 500g, used some BBQ dry rub, threw in a bottle of BBQ marinade sauce and made pressure-cooked pulled-beef sandwiches on toasted Turkish bread with mayo, cucumber, grated carrot, lettuce and tomato.

    It only took 1.5 hours in total to prepare (using a Crock Pot) and it was hands-down the best most juiciest sandwich I’ve ever had. Restaurant quality. In fact it was far better than any brisket sandwich I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and for a fraction of the price. My family loved it, and there was enough leftover for a second meal (not including the other 500g frozen for a future meal).

    The meat required a fair bit of trimming to remove some of the fat but a sharp knife makes it easy, and I’ve never had a brisket that didn’t require some work. Plus the fat definitely adds flavour if you leave some on, so it’s definitely not a bad thing – especially if you’re a creative cook and you keep the trimmings for other uses. Way better than anything I’ve ever got from Woollies that’s for sure. Will definitely be getting this again!

    PS. It would also definitely make for awesome pulled-beef tacos/burritos/quesadillas/nachos, which I’ll be trying real soon with that leftover half 🙂
